Literacy Through Storybooks

  The purpose of this website is to tell all teachers of school entrants about an exciting solution to a problem that is much too familiar to most of us. It concerns those children who come to school with no experience of books or the joy of stories.

  We all know that most children who are read to and enjoy books from babyhood have no trouble in learning to read, (indeed many teach themselves without formal instruction) whereas many who come with little or no book experience, struggle, learn to hate reading, avoid it as much as possible and set off down the path towards failure and poor behaviour.

  It is, in essence, a simple solution. I use an overhead camera, or visualiser to project story books - words and pictures - onto a big screen so that your whole class can see as well as hear the stories you read them.
